Paperthin: What is your media of choice?

Trisha Gene Brady: Large format photography is my first choice but as a media artist I would say my Mac is my favorite right now... I wouldn’t be able to accomplish half of the media work I do without it!

PT: How long have you been a photographer?

TGB: I began taking non-credit photography classes here at UT as a sophmore in high school. My high school art teacher and I attended figure drawing class here every Wednesday night for 2 years. I decided I liked it and began photography the same way.

PT: What got you interested in photography?

TGB: I can sometimes be impatient. Photography was almost like instant gratification for me. The large format photo makes me slow it down again and pay attention to every detail.

PT: Do you have any formal training/schooling?

TGB: I have a BFA and an MFA in Media Art from the University of Tennessee. I was fortunate enough to teach photography and cinematography at UT for a couple of years as a graduate student and I now help run a media editing lab known as The Studio in Hodges Library.

PT: Are you available for commissioned/professional work?

TGB: Yes. I have most currently been doing CD design and photography work for friends and local musicians.

PT: Do you see yourself continuing in the field 20 years down the line?

TGB: I will always be an artist and photographer. Once you get the bug it never goes away... and you always see things differently!
